The first Borneo International Pickleball Open began on Friday at The Good Club in Kota Kinabalu, with about 536 players from Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, China and Taiwan. Permanent Secretary Datuk Josie Lai opened the three-day event, which ends on Sunday, October 18, and is run by Borneo Kelab Rekreasi Pickleball together with Megas Mind Creative & Development. The club's nine courts, six indoor and three outdoor, cost more than RM3 million and opened only last month, director Ryan Chu said. Hong Kong celebrity Hugo Wong joined Lai for an opening invitation match.

For clubs, this shows how a new venue, tourism partners and an international entry list can launch a first-year event at scale, a model worth studying before planning a destination tournament.

  • Lea Jansen plays Virginia Beach doubles on a broken kneecap and will miss the rest of 2026

Inihahanda ang salin; tekstong Ingles muna ang ipinapakita.

Lea Jansen has pulled out of women's singles and mixed doubles at the PPA Tour's Virginia Beach Open with a broken left patella, but she is still playing women's doubles with Kate Fahey. The pair beat Daria Walczak and Alex Walker 11-2, 11-4 on Thursday and face fifth seeds Alix Truong and Layne Sleeth in Friday's quarterfinals. The Dink's Erik Tice reported that the 34-year-old had played on the injury since May, through the Major League Pickleball season, until an MRI found it. Jansen expects about three months out and has left every remaining 2026 event.

    Pagsusuri ng Coachino

A reminder for coaches: pain that lingers for months deserves a scan, not more matches. An early diagnosis can save a season that toughness alone puts at risk.

  • Louisville turns to mixed doubles on Friday, with APPTV coverage from noon Eastern

Inihahanda ang salin; tekstong Ingles muna ang ipinapakita.

The Humana APP Louisville Open puts mixed doubles on Championship Court on Friday, October 16, with APPTV coverage starting at noon Eastern. The tour’s viewing announcement adds a practical way to follow a week with several record chases. In the pre-event standings, Jack Munro and Richard Livornese Jr. had six consecutive men’s doubles titles and were pursuing a seventh. Megan Fudge’s 33 women’s doubles titles matched Simone Jardim. Those figures describe the records entering Louisville, not results already achieved at this tournament.

    Pagsusuri ng Coachino

Clubs can build a viewing session around a published start time while keeping pre-event milestones clearly separate from results that are still to come.

  • 🇦🇺 Alshon's social media manager steps in for Staksrud and reaches the Brisbane quarterfinals

Inihahanda ang salin; tekstong Ingles muna ang ipinapakita.

When Federico Staksrud could not travel to the Australia Pickleball Cup because of visa problems, Christian Alshon turned to Benjamin Bramblett, his social media manager and full-time hitting partner. Bramblett, a left-hander who last played pro events years ago, and Alshon go back three years. The stand-in pair won their round of 32 match 11-4, 11-2, took the round of 16 and reached the men's doubles quarterfinals against No. 11 seeds George Wall and Joey Wild. Alshon admitted expectations were modest after Bramblett's long break from tour play.

    Pagsusuri ng Coachino

Solid fundamentals travel: a regular practice partner who knows a pro’s patterns can hold up at tour level, which is why a steady hitting partner matters so much in training.

  • Sewing, Ford and Rangelov advance as Virginia Beach singles favourites fall

Inihahanda ang salin; tekstong Ingles muna ang ipinapakita.

Sofia Sewing overturned a close opening-game loss to Brooke Buckner with an emphatic finish, winning 12–14, 11–1, 11–1 in Virginia Beach’s round of 16. Maria Ford also recovered against Milan Rane, 3–11, 11–7, 11–9, while George Rangelov eliminated Jack Sock 11–5, 11–6. Friday brings quarterfinals across all five pro divisions. The official PPA announcement sets PBTV coverage for noon Eastern, followed by Tennis Channel from 2–5pm Eastern, giving viewers a chance to follow the next stage of these runs.

    Pagsusuri ng Coachino

A scoreline can show the scale of a turnaround without explaining its cause. Coaches should use match footage before attributing these wins to specific tactical changes.

  • Mack and Braham reach Virginia Beach quarters; Stone and Mackinnon rally through

Inihahanda ang salin; tekstong Ingles muna ang ipinapakita.

Luca Mack and Anouar Braham removed Armaan Bhatia and Augustus Ge from the Virginia Beach men’s doubles draw on October 15, winning 12–10, 11–5 to reach the quarterfinals. Their next opponents were Elliott Schupp and Jaume Martinez Vich. Wyatt Stone and Will MacKinnon also advanced after a sharp reversal against Roscoe Bellamy and Matt Wright. Having lost the opener, they won 5–11, 11–0, 11–4. The official player records support both results in the dated round-of-16 report.

    Pagsusuri ng Coachino

The two results provide different review material: closing after a tight opener and rebuilding after a lost game both deserve practice in doubles sessions.

  • 🇭🇰 Seven players can complete PPA Tour Asia's dragon medal at the Hong Kong Slam

Inihahanda ang salin; tekstong Ingles muna ang ipinapakita.

PPA Tour Asia's dragon medal set comes to a head in Hong Kong. A 500-level medal forms the tail and a 1000-level medal the body, and this year the head is only on offer at the Hang Seng Bank Hong Kong Slam at Kai Tak Arena, October 19 to 25, where reaching a final completes the set. Seven players already hold a tail and a body, among them Tama Shimabukuro, who has seven 2026 titles, Australian partners Sahra Dennehy and Danni-Elle Townsend, Alix Truong, Hien Truong, Len Yang and Joey Wild.

    Pagsusuri ng Coachino

Collectible milestones like the dragon give regional players a season-long goal. Club coaches can borrow the idea with tiered rewards that keep juniors entering events all year.

  • Barcelona Open moves to 11 indoor courts across two venues as rain threatens play

Inihahanda ang salin; tekstong Ingles muna ang ipinapakita.

Forecast rain prompted the Pickle Pro Tour to move its Barcelona Open competition indoors, according to Dinkeando’s October 14 organizer update. Club Shooter in Sant Fruitós de Bages supplies seven courts, with four more at Vila Pickleball in Sabadell. Players must check where each category will take place before travelling, particularly when entering multiple events. The organizer also announced that all participants would receive their entry fees back after the tournament. That is a refund commitment, not confirmation that payments have already been completed.

    Pagsusuri ng Coachino

Tournament contingency plans need more than spare courts: clear venue assignments and timely refund communication help players manage travel and scheduling changes.
